Festival Preview - UPfest 2008: The Urban Paint Festival

12am-11pm Sunday 19th October 2008 @ Tobacco Factory

The Urban Paint Festival idea was born at the beginning of the summer following the Cans Festival in London and has drawn inspiration from the SuperCans event in Southampton. Bristol is intrinsically linked with Urban Art through the pioneers of the Graff scene and so it’s time the city had its own festival to celebrate this!

UPfest is a non-profit making, contemporary, freestyle art event, bringing together an eclectic mix of local, national and international artists in support of a locally run charity, NACOA - The National Association for Children of Alcoholics.

Expect 12 hours of live urban art created before your very eyes by up to 40 artists around the UK, US and Europe including…45RPM, Abide, Acerone, AgentProvocateur, Andy Council, Avian Security, BAM, Ben Slow, Cheba, Cheo, ChibaLove, Dale Grimshaw, Dank, Danny O’Connor, David Walker, DBO, DEFY, DIVA, Eyesaw, FarkFK, FLX, GOIN, Grafter, GVD, Ikkeno, Inkie, Jess Hartridge, Jilko, K74, Karl Read, Kev Munday, Lokey, Matti, Moti, Mr Jago, MYNE, Nick Ill, Richt, Run Pig Run, RuSo, Seb Pape, Snik, SNUB23, SPQR, Stickee, The Art Tart and Vermin.

There will be a live charity art spray of a retro Saab 900 which will be subsequently auctioned off and a print of the car will be produced and available to purchase on the day, signed by a random selection of the artists, with all proceeds going to NACOA.

Also, each artist has been invited to bring along a canvas which will be displayed inside the Tobacco Factory, with 50% of the proceeds also going to NACOA.

Along side the live art will be music, music, music from excellent DJs and beatboxers along with a kid’s area where they can join in the live art with hand painting and maybe more.

You can ensure it’s going to be a real mad day of art, music and fundraising!!! See you there!!!
